Schaeffer versus Trump

Post by Moonwood the Hare »

Frank Schaeffer was one of the architects of the Christian right. He has had a lot of time to repent. He also had a son who fought in the Gulf. Hear what he has to say on Trump's latest exploits https://frankschaefferblog.com/2020/01 ... -a-mullah/

He acts like this is the result of some epiphany he had this morning. I personally don’t think much of what he said is particularly controversial to be honest. (Of course my view on the subject is the minority view around these parts)

Anyone who hasn’t picked up on the fact that our president is a con man hasn’t been paying attention.

As an aside, he could also use a sedative. There I was all mellow and a few minutes of that guy straightened me right up

Don't all believers think that God is on their side? I wonder how confederate Christians justified God deserting them during the American civil war?

It's more that because of his history both as a key player in the founding of the evangelical right and his son fighting in the gulf, he feels he has a very personal involvement in this issue, hence the anger.

Everyone fights for what they think or feel is right. But it is dangerous when you start to over-identify God with a particular political agenda, the means tend to become the end.
