Are you Athiest, Christian or Other?

Postby Nurvingiel » Thu Nov 22, 2007 7:18 pm

Since we are mainly Christians and Atheists discussing religion, philosophy and other topics, how do you identify yourself? Are you an atheist? A Christian or a member of another religion? Or none of these? I'm curious about board demographics.
Yes Virginia, there is such thing as Christian Deism.

I fall under the umbrella of Agnostic Deist, since although I don't know for certain, observing the evidence of the physical universe and the laws that guide it make it reasonable for me to allow for a First Cause kind of Creator that started the whole thing and put it into motion, then backed off completely to let it run naturally. However, when it comes to the Christian God or any other that various religions have to offer, I am Atheist.

Thanks Whoosanightowl. It occured to me after that I should have included a spot for agnostics. I just hope if anyone answers "other" they flesh out their response with a post. :)

I'm a human being.

To cut some folks off at the pass, I don't advocate for violence, oppression, genocide, war, hatred or intolerance. Instead, I advocate for education, organization, activism, and the democratic process. ~~ KtR

I identify as agnostic although I lean toward not believing in any supernatural gods. However, I have deep spiritual feelings and regard the spiritual lives of people to be their own personal business and not for me to judge. I do feel that a person's behavior toward others is the most important thing that matters and it can be used as a guide to determine what their values are and what kind of person they are.
