a temporary farewell from Rian

Postby Rian » Mon Nov 09, 2009 5:41 pm

Hi all!

I'm having another surgery (ironically on the same date that my foot surgery took place a year ago!) in just a few weeks, and I have some very busy times before, including a week in Hawaii for my dad's 80th bday (yay!), so I won't be around much for awhile. But I just wanted to say that I've really enjoyed the quality of the posts lately here, esp. from some of the newer folks like Angela and tirtlegrll (I can never remember how she spells that!) and Moonwood (and prob some other, but can't recall right now). Anyway - great discussions going on, and I wish I could join in more  but just can't right now.

Hey, I just realized - Angela and Tirtlegrll are both women, too! Hooray, Sue, we finally got some more women around here! :)

So carry on, folks - I'll peek in now and then over the next few weeks, then I"ll prob. be out a while, then hopefully will be back.

Good luck with the surgery, Rian, happy 80th to your dad, and enjoy that week in Hawaii!

Yay Hawaii! My family spent a week on Kaua'i last June and it was AWESOME. Have fun and good luck with your surgery, Rian.

So Rian, was this hand surgery? Sorry, I haven't been around here for awhile, so I may have missed it if you've already said. I'm thinking of having carpal tunnel surgery, so I was wondering if that may be what you had done? I hope the healing is going well and that you had a very nice Christmas! Take care! Sue

hi sue - so nice to (virtually) see u!

it was shoulder surgery, multiple major issues - torn rotator cuff, SLAP lesion, spurs, and shoulder had partially frozen so they had to force it open - they had to put 5 anchors in the bone to hold things together. r cuff is v. painful recovery all by itself but with the other stuff and my underlying medical issues it's been unbelievably painful. pt works me to where im crying on the table. theyre very nice there tho- they even worjked on me for free for a few months when insurance ran out! . might have to get put under again and recrack it open in a few weeks. i wish i could have missed this dark valley but god is walking with me v. lovingly and im learning a lot and so is the whole family. when i had foot surgery a year ago i asked pt what the worst recovery was and they said shoulder, no question. didnt believe them then but believe it now!!!!!

i dont know anything about c tunnel surgery , sorry - just research the dr and find a good pt and maybe surf the web for good tips and questions 2 ask. hopefully will be able to b back a bit more in a month or so - miss ya! and miss many others here.
