Got God? ...not anymore.

Postby erickeVolved » Sat Aug 01, 2009 9:27 am

Hi folks,

My name is Erick, and I am an ex-fundamentalist Christian. I recently gained my reason, and washed my hands of religion.

I found this form and podcast a few days ago. It was a breath of fresh air to see people with deep fundamental differences treating each other with respect. It's a rare thing nowadays.

Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself. :smt006

Hey Erick, thanks for the kind words, and welcome to the forum!

Welcome, Erick.

I took a look at your blog and can see that you've been through quite a bit since 2008. You live in the Jesus-saturated South, so I imagine that you have not found a lot of support for questioning faith.

Coincidentally, I know Maryville very well. Back in the 1960s, I started school at Porter Elementary, and when my parents retired they moved back again to Maryville.

How do you answer now when complete strangers ask where you go to church?
Diversity is the offspring of Liberty. Nonetheless, frightened, mainstream ideologues treat diversity like a bastard stepchild, instead of like a welcome indicator of our overall well-being.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

When I'm asked were I go to church, I usually just tell them "we go to such and such church." I still go to church with my wife. She is a believer.

Wow, that must be difficult--at least it would have been for me. Does she know where you stand or does anyone else from church know?

Congratulations on the promotion. I hope this is a transition from irrational Christian to rational atheist - always an improvement, because I will tell you that I have really had my fill of people who think that rational just means agreeing with whatever they say.

And of course the next evolutionary step is to rational Christian! ;) :D
