You need to get help right now. Why delay?

Gary, sorry to hear you're going through this - especially out of seemingly nowhere (ie: left field).

You said in your original post that you've recently gone on medications for anxiety and panic attacks. I would suggest, that you talk with the doctor that gave you the medications. It sounds like they're not working as well as they should, which quite often means changing to more effective medications. My understanding is that this can be a bit of a hit 'n' miss affair 'til the medication that works for you is found.

All the best to you, mate.

Thanks, Oz. The doctor said it will take 6 to 8 weeks for the meds to take effect and I've only been on them a little over 2 weeks. I have taken some steps to address my state mentally and I've confided in a number of people in my support group, including the members here. That was a big step. The first was admitting to myself that something was wrong. I have a couple more moves to make next week and I hope this will be enough to reverse my course. I would say that the last three or four weeks have been the worst in my life.

Shucks, really sorry to hear that.

Talking about it can help tremendously and I'm glad to hear you're doing that, as hard as it is to do. The good news is that it gets easier to do this because you soon learn that more than a few people can relate to how you feel, have in fact been through what you're feeling and as such can be more even more helpful than just a sympathetic ear.

On the subject of going to see a psychiatrist, I'll share a bit of humour with you. I like it because it's humour with a message. It's from a scene from Crocodile Dundee...
Mick: What's a shrink?
Sue: People go to a psychiatrist to talk about their problems. She just needed to unload them. You know, bring them out in the open.
Mick: Oh... Hasn't she got any mates?
Sue: You're right. I guess we could all use more mates. I suppose you don't have any shrinks at Walkabout Creek.
Mick: Nah, back there if you've got a problem ya tell Wally. He tells everyone... No more problem!

Anyway, hope you don't have to go through this much longer.

Not much I can say but that I wish you good luck in finding a some way of dealing.

I have no personal experience in this matter. I take no medication and don't see anyone for anything, though half the people here might say that I should because they think I am as loony as one gets, and I frankly admit that this doesn't prove anything one way or another about how sane I may be. LOL

I think I have mentioned the term "identified patient" that psychiatrists use because they have found that the people who come to see them are neither the people with most significant psychopathology nor necessarily where the real problem is to be found. Often the job that the psychiatrist has to help sane people learn to how to cope with all unsane people around them.

Yes, putting up with you has not helped my condition at all. It will be a sad day if I have to read another of your asinine posts directed at me.
