If Atheism is a religion, then health is a disease!
Clark Adams1969 - 2007
The question [Do you believe in God?] has a peculiar structure. If I say no, do I mean I'm convinced God doesn't exist, or do I mean I'm not convinced he does exist? Those are two very different questions. [Dr. Arroway]

There's so many of these quotes.

If atheism is a religion, then being bald is a hair style.

If atheism is a religion, then abstinence is a sex position.

I believe it was Neil deGrasse Tyson who said - and I quote loosely: 'It seems kind of ridiculous that we even have a word for this. I mean, we don't have a word for non-golfers. All us non-golfers don't get together and talk about how much we don't golf.'

That's why I like to identify by what I accept as my principle of understanding existence: Reason. I'm a Reasonist.

I often call theists "Faithiests" because of the poetic justice.

You've quoted my favourite one "If atheism is a religion, then being bald is a hair style.".

I guess we have a word for it because it's more meaningful than saying 'none of the above', if for no other reason than not having to provide context (ie: 'none of the above' means very little without phrases like 'what religion are you?'). To be fair, we don't generally get together and discuss why we 'don't golf', so much as we get together to discuss how pervasive and yet ridiculous this game appears to us given we see no evidence of golf clubs, balls and courses existing.

KTR, I too like the word "Faitheists"... must remember to get around to using it in conversation even though I'm pretty sure the 'poetic justice' would be lost on quite a number of Christians.

My own riff on this theme was, "If Atheism is a Religion, then Anorexia is a Cuisine."
Diversity is the offspring of Liberty. Nonetheless, frightened, mainstream ideologues treat diversity like a bastard stepchild, instead of like a welcome indicator of our overall well-being.

For some of us bald is a hair style. My goatee looks much better when I shave my head than when I don't.

Do you wear a goatee or a Van Dyke, Rhino? I'm constantly amused by how many people confuse these two styles of facial hair.

From wikipedia:

Goatee refers solely to a beard formed by a tuft of hair on the chin—like on the chin of a goat, hence the term 'goatee'.[1] Since the late 1990s, the term has been misused to refer to the style of facial hair called the Vandyke, a combination of a goatee and a mustache. This does not typically include the tuft just under the lip, more commonly referred to as the soul patch.

Examples, Abraham Lincoln wore a goatee. Johnny Depp typically wears a Van Dyke.

Both, as you pointed out a Vandyke is a combination of a goatee and a mustache. How I look at it, my mustache( which is about twenty years old ) does stop being a mustache when I decide to grow a goatee, or magicly revert back when I shave it.

"Shaving your head" and "being bald," while perhaps similar in appearance, are different matters.

A furry fellow can choose a shaven head as a "hair style," just as one can strip the grass from lush lawn. If you leave either long enough, something will grow back.

But it is futile to style the strands of a truly bald head. Any attempt is like a golf course in the Gobi desert, i.e., obviously artificial.

So don't call yourself "bald" if you have to do maintenance to vacate your pate. Bald occurs only is when most of your hair has moved on and left no forwarding address.
