Now you've got me looking for a copy of The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, which I've never read.

I've never read it through. I find it not very gripping. Mitch has studied it and hates it. A really good book on philosophy of science is 'What is this
Thing Called Science' by Alan Chalmers. He covers all the main theories about science very succinctly.

Hey guys, we're leaving for a long camping trip in a few days - I haven't posted much because we're getting ready. Anyway, we can pick this up again when I get back. I'll also throw into the pot my other objections about the theory, and whoever wants to can toss those around with me. For a reminder to myself, I'll go over extrapolation, plus the background issues and other philosophical issues with the theory (background basis, fit-to-find, must be natural but what if it's not, emotional issues, worldview issues, etc.)

(and those are notes to myself, so don't try to make too much sense out of them)
