It's probably something not too serious or expensive *joins you in crossing fingers*, but even if it is, it may be worthwhile in the long run to fix it if everything else still checks okay. I mean, a few hundred dollar repair is still less costly than a monthly car payment, expecially if you can get another few years and possibly 200,000 miles or so out of it!
I'd love to keep it! I'm just afraid that it won't be a few hundred ... Our 8-yr-old Suburban died in a spectacular way a few months ago - we're talking repairs in the thousands! and after the third thousand-plus repair, we chucked it and got a new one (we have a good deal with GM since a family member worked for them). We'll definitely work towards keeping it, unless it's something major.

K, Rian, I am sending you an open invitation to visit me here in Huntsvile, AL, but you have to do it in August when it is 98 Degrees and 100% humidity!
No, thanks! We used to visit my grandmother in Atlanta in the summer .... When you get out of the shower, you don't even bother to towel off - you know you'll be just as wet in a few minutes anyway. But still, it's GREEN there - and it's the lack of green that I find that I'm having trouble with.

I don't think "non-conrontative" is officially a word.
I didn't think so either, actually, but I typed in "non-confrontive" and the spell-checker dinged it and suggested the other thing, and since I was in a hurry, I just went with it instead of looking it up. My bad! and the spell-checker's bad, too!

I guess I never considered that as a real possibility, but maybe it is with some. So, I guess we should all presume that everyone else on the forum is a potential "friend" and show equal degrees of respect and consideration.
I think that'd be great :) Sue and I do this. And look how wonderful we are! ;)

Personally, I think that is a stretch if you still want to hash out the sensitive subjects we dicuss here. And I've seen confirmation for that from just about every corner.
Yes, it's definitely a stretch, but I think having that underlying attitude is good, and you'll get some pleasant surprises that way, too. I've actually met 3 internet friends in RL, and talked on the phone with a 4th.

I so think there is one area where you could use more openmindedness, and that is in the area of scientific research. I have sensed a degree of belief in your posts for things that are generally derived from rumor or a poor understanding of science. I'm not saying you know nothing about science, just that there is often much more to a subject than you seem to comprehend, and that can only lead to misrepresentations.
Then I'm willing to listen to you again - maybe I missed something.

This could probably spawn a whole host of rants, and there's plenty of fuel available. But to truly understand the concept of "disrespect", you have to understand your antagonist. To Bizazrro, saying "I like you" is a dreadful insult.
Sorry, I don't understand this ...

Sorry. I just meant that different things bother different people. You really have to get to know someone to figure out where they're pressure points are sometimes. You know Bizzarro, right. The reverse Superman?

No, I don't know Bizzarro. You're teaching me lots of new things! I hadn't heard of whats-his-name (the evolution guy with Kirk Cameron) either, and I hadn't seen a Dennis Miller "I could be wrong" rant, and ... I'm sure there was more, but I'm kinda fried after an all-day field trip. Does this Bizzarro not like being liked? Nevermind, I'll just google it and save you the trouble :)

(and I'm not into painted rocks - just NOT the same, ya know?!)

Vent - here we are in ARIZONA, at the end of MAY, and what's the weather like for our all-day fieldtrip/class party to a water park? In the high 60's/low 70's, windy, overcast, with occasional SPRINKLES!!!! The kids were shivering, wrapped up in their towels. It was 111 Monday and Tuesday, 100 Wednesday, and will probably be 100+ tomorrow, but TODAY? Nah! *sigh*

ps - just rechecked the confront* words - my spell-checker still gives me confrontative! But that's not in any dictionary that I've checked. Weird! I think you're right - non-confrontational would be the ticket. I thought "confrontive" was a word, though, but I'm worng.

(That last word was a typo, but I thought it was funny to just leave it :D )

EDIT - and now I'm finding BOTH confrontive and confrontative on some dictionaries ... weird! But I think your option is the best.

Ugh, that's why I had to move from Texas. Waaay too hot for me. Yeah, we had our 90 degree day a couple days ago, right around the time Barack Obama was in town. But that only lasted a short while, we're back to our normal 60-70s in the day, 40s-50s at night. Even in August, when it does get hot for a week or two, it still cools down to the 50s at night.

So, I feel for you, Rian and Sponge. But I'm sure glad I'm not living in the South anymore!

Here ya' go, Rian, the whole story of Bizarro: http://www.supermansupersite.com/bizzarro.html

Sure. But I remember some people used rocks and cactus to form a beautiful landscape with absolutely no grass. I thought it was great. No mowing! But I suppose the dust would be pretty bad.

I hate to say this, Rian, but Bizarro isn't nearly the most outrageous character created by geeks. Welcome to my world. If you really want to read something silly, Google "Man of steel, woman of kleenex". And it was written by a leading sci-fi author!

I took my family to the Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchburg, TN today. It was a busy day and they got the tour groups messed up and we had to wait over an hour while others were literally walking in and going on the tour. Arrrgh! Tour was great, though. Bought a bottle when I got back home and, ahhhh, is it good. :-D

I could use that bottle right now!

Spent some extra money to finally get a Mac - more reliable, etc. Bought a fun stop-motion program for the kids to play with this summer from the Mac store. New Mac, software from the Mac store built for a Mac. Should work, right? WRONG!!!! Just found out there's an issue with this software with the built-in webcam in the iMac  So why in the world are they selling it in a Mac store?!??!?!??!!
