I just want to mention, as a response to Aaron's roommate issue among other things, that my fraternity has always had at least one gay guy during the two years since I pledged, and that it has never, ever caused a problem. They've lived in the house, had straight roommates, exchanged joking innuendos, made out with their boyfriends at parties, and no shit has gone down as a result. A couple of them have even been elected chapter president (one two years ago and one this year). This is pure coincidence; we've just gotten a couple of extremely motivated, responsible and organized guys who happened to be gay. My chapter apparently used to be known around campus as "the pink house" between the 70s and 90s, but now the homosexuals aren't ghettoized any more and I think at least three of our five frats have at least one (without any sort of affirmative action). There are enough Christians in my chapter to keep the Bible in our rituals (though no anti-gay ones) and it still hasn't caused any issues. There really isn't anything to worry about.
(There is nevertheless controversy in my chapter over the pledging of FtM transsexuals due to fear of retribution from the grand chapter and the feelings of many brothers, which pisses me off.)
