Fair enough, edaughdrill, but you're not pitching it to me or the members of this forum. Well, actually you are, but you don't want anyone's opinions so I wonder why you're even bothering. But certainly, good luck to you. You'll need it when you actually get around to pitching your movie to the money people.

Humanguy

I do actually want the forum's opinions, comments, & questions but don't find dismissive snark particularly useful or productive. If I misjudged the tone of your first post, I apologize.

Okay, let me ask you this. Have you finished writing the script? Have you started pitching it?

Mine was not a dismissive snarky question and certainly was misjudged. But I would have not made the question so "snarky" if i had seen it was in the fellowship. You post in a forum, you obviously open yourself up to all questions and/or criticism, especially when your main goal is to market your product. I know why you dismissed my comments, but I have invested interests in my faith. I still want to know what you mean by "open and less dogmatic". I can certainly have agreements to certain levels of dogmatism. I wouldn't try to defend something that isn't scriptural. You made the statement, so it obviously an influence in the film you say you are creating. If you don't want to comment on my question, then why make your statement?

humanguy-yes to both questions

mike-"open & less dogmatic" simply means less literal interpretations of christian doctrine and biblical text. literalism, as an interpretative approach, is often the most useless & distorting way to "read" a text. It devalues context, history, culture & authorship and leads to oversimplification.

Didn't mean to ignore you. And yes, posting on a forum certainly opens me up for many different reactions, but I'm not required to respond to those I think aren't part of a respectful discourse, am I? I have absolutely no problem with honest disagreements and an open discussion, in fact I welcome them. Ironic, distanciated snark that attempts to condescend or degrade, does nothing for the speaker, his target, nor the subject at hand.

Best,
Eli

The subject at hand is you, and no one forced you to come here to pitch your movie.

True, but to Mike's point, I don't have to respond to it, do I?

Not any more than you have to be here in the first place.

Good point. Guess I'll have to accept the snark and either ignore or critique cynical, uninformed criticisms like your Bullock comment.

I, for one, think a film like this could have legs. The synopsis was sparse enough that I really don't know how it would play out, but artistic presentation of the questions of faith can be great discussion starters. You don't sound like you want to be preachy, which would prevent the film from being panned by either side of the theism debate.

I hold genuinely inadequate knowledge and experience to say more about the film making art, so forgive me for having little more to contribute to the discussion. Until I see a script, I have difficulty visualizing how things would proceed.

By the way, Eli, you posted the wrong link for your documentary about your brother. Here's the real link:
