That diagram would upset a minimalist, Brad! I wonder if there are any places (probably small islands) that are completely free of legalistic religion!

Odd... the chart doesn't include atheism as a religion... (Or if it does, my poor vision can't find it.) Hmmm.....

Jim, you're such a provocateur!

Actually, at the source link you can enlarge and/or make a nice one-page pdf file for printing.

Quite a bit of food for thought in the graphic. For example, compare the numbers of Catholics to Muslims. Or consider that the chart shows more total Secular/Irreligious/Agnostics/Atheists than the total of all non-Catholic Christians. And that the total of "Dharmic" adherents (Buddhists and Hindus combined, basically) is almost identical to the total of Christians. And did you know there were that many more Sunnis than Shiites? (Shia? Chia?)

And of course, it's good that the 745 Samaritans were not left out, but Scientologists will be much offended for their lack of specific mention.

Also, the geographical representations at the bottom are worth considering, no matter one's perspective.

Why are atheists included in a graphic on religion!? And what's with putting them in a black circle!? Are they implying that atheists are evil, or void of substance? Humph!

Seriously, cool graphic. I love things like this that provide an opportunity to embrace a broader perspective, and there were some surprises for sure. Thanks for sharing Brad!

EDIT: Also, I find it interesting that they include the word "Secular," define it as those who want separation of church and state, and lump it in with the Atheists/Agnostics/Irreligious. That would include, I presume, many religious folks as well, and I wonder whether they accounted for that in their numbers.
